Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT ARE SOME ALLERGY TRIGGERS ?
Allergies can be triggered by things in the home. Look for mold, mildew, or new carpeting.
New carpeting with formaldehyde backing may cause runny nose and nasal congestion. Simple shampooing can help that initial chemical smell of newly laid carpet.
Keep in mind that an environment acceptable to one person may not be suitable for someone else.
If you have house pets, please remind the nurses on the day you are allergy tested. It may be that allergy treatment can help your immune system to become stronger around certain pets.

CAN FAMILY HISTORY BE A FACTOR ?
Allergies do not affect any two people in the same way. One's environment and family history is important in determining treatment for allergic problems.
For selected patients, allergy skin testing may be performed to help identify what your specific allergy may be.

WHY AM I SNEEZING ?
Sneezing and nasal congestion are frequent complaints of allergy patients.
Remember that allergic rhinitis (allergy) is one of the most commonly seen illnesses suffered by Americans.
For some, the allergic condition can be more severe and asthma may result.
For the asthmatic child, removal of adenoids can be a big help, along with allergy treatment.
Look in on your children (or your spouse)...Do they snore? If so, daytime fatigue may be a problem.
